WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER CHURCH OF CHAMONIX: WEDDING CELEBRATED AT THE TOWN HALL AND THE CHURCH OF CHAMONIX, RECEPTION IN THE CABANE DES PRAZ

The bride gets ready for the wedding in her parents’ Chalet in Chamonix, with a breathtaking view of the entire Mont Blanc massif. For the portraits the couple chose the old Chamonix house of the bride’s grandmother and the Majestic. A rather original choice, it was the first time in my career as a wedding photographer in Chamonix that I took couple photos at the Majestic and the choice turned out to be interesting. The Majestic is a palace from the Belle Époque of Chamonix, when the town experienced rapid development. The bay windows on the ground floor, overlooking the terrace, reflect sunlight, the large trees in the park allow us to stay cool on a very hot day in July and we can see the Mont Blanc chain in the middle of the trees.

In the early afternoon the wedding is celebrated at the town hall of Chamonix, but the big ceremony takes place at the church of Saint Michel et Prieuré in Chamonix, a beautiful Catholic church in the Savoyard or Alpine Baroque style. The guests are around 200 and they fill almost the entire church, the ceremony lasts a long time and ends with a grand exit of the bride and groom, surrounded by the bridesmaids.

The rest of the wedding is celebrated at the Cabane des Praz, a large traditional chalet in pure mountain style with very neat modern decoration, located next to the Chamonix golf course. The reception takes place on the terrace, animated by a singer and musicians, while I take group photos a little apart. When the sun goes down and the glaciers turn pink, we move inside the chalet for dinner and the party.
